Starting A Business: Everything You Need To Know

Hi everyone. I'm Amanda Buck. I decided to create this website because it has been my dream for years to start my own business. I will eventually make this a reality after I have saved up enough money to where I feel comfortable making this leap. But for now, I've been busy learning everything I can about starting a business. I learn best when I teach, so I have decided to create this blog where I will create posts I hope will be useful to business owners and those who are looking to start a business. Now let's get down to business!

Understanding The Benefits Of Having A Dry Chemical Extinguisher In Your Restaurant

If you run a restaurant, then your fire suppression system is likely an extremely important when it comes to protecting your business. While a business wide system is ideal, you should also place some fire extinguishers in your kitchen area. You have many choices when it comes to the extinguishers. Dry chemical varieties are the most common. Keep reading to learn why.

They Can Extinguish Most Fires

If you look at dry chemical fire extinguishers, then you may notice that they are rated for use with class A, class B, and class C fires. A class A fire is one that starts with wood, paper, garbage, or any other refuse material. Class A fires are ones that involve combustible materials. Class B fires are ones that involve the lighting of flammable gasses and fluid materials, and Class C ones are electrical.

There are a few other types of fires that can occur in a kitchen and include oil and fat fires. You should know that the dry chemical extinguishers will not help to extinguish these fires. You will need a wet chemical extinguisher for this. These types of extinguishers are the only ones that can be used on grease fires and they do not put out any other class of fire. In other words, you will always need numerous fire extinguishers to protect your restaurant. The good news is that with the dry and wet chemical varieties, you will be safe from all fires that can occur.

Cleaning Is Easy

When purchasing a fire extinguisher, you want to know that it will do its job and help to keep fire damage to a minimum inside your restaurant. Dry chemicals do work quickly to stop fires fast. This is ideal for ones that involve any sort of combustible material that can spread rapidly.

However, if you destroy your kitchen in the process, then you will need to concentrate on an extensive cleanup after the fire is extinguished. The dry chemical extinguishers have the benefit of being easily cleaned once the fire is out. You simply need to vacuum up the chemical residue when you are ready. You will need to complete some sanitization of the kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes, but this would be the case if any contaminate entered the area.

Even though you will need to clean up the powder after a fire, do not be hesitant about using the extinguisher in the first place. The safety of yourself and your employees should be the first thought in your mind when a fire breaks out. Contact a company, like Tri County Fire Protection, for more help.
